The memory of the martyrs who gave their lives for the Motherland was honored with a minute of silence.
Salim Babullaoglu, Secretary of the Writers' Union, poet, and translator, spoke about the history of the creation of the "Greetings to Shusha" project, its idea, and the goals of its implementation. He said that the project serves to promote Shusha's post-Victory spiritual and cultural image on the international literary stage. The fact that 44 poets from 30 countries around the world recited poems about Shusha within the project demonstrates its international scale and its contribution to strengthening cultural ties between peoples through literature.
During the event, video recordings of poems dedicated to Shusha by five poets who took part in the project were presented. In addition, Salim Babullaoglu, the project's originator, recited some of the poems himself, conveying the artistic and aesthetic content of the poetic examples to participants. The poetry presentations were of particular interest as a literary expression of Shusha's history, cultural heritage, and the spiritual feelings born of the Victory.
Gardashkhan Azizkhanli, PhD in Philology and lecturer at Khazar University's Department of Languages and Literatures, and Aytaj Misgarli, Director of the Library and Information Center, also spoke. They addressed the literary and cultural significance of the "Greetings to Shusha" project, its contribution to making our rightful Victory known to the world, and the role of artistic creativity in conveying the essence of Victory Day to future generations.
Zaur Ustac, a participant of the First Karabakh War, reserve officer, poet, and Chairman of the Awards Commission of the "Yazarlar" magazine, also spoke at the event. Noting that Azerbaijan's history of Victory occupies a special place in the people's memory and literature, he recited his poem reflecting the spiritual spirit of the victory.
At the end of the event, Zaur Ustac presented the "Literature Ambassador" medal and diploma of the "Yazarlar" magazine to Salim Babullaoglu. This award was notable as recognition of his literary activity, his contribution to promoting Azerbaijani poetry, and to making national and cultural values known internationally through the "Greetings to Shusha" project.
