The “Low Dimensional Materials Research Center “ was established by the Department of Physics and Electronics at Khazar University. Assoc. Prof. Matlab Mirzayev, doctor of physical sciences, was appointed director of the center. Matlab Mirzayev is a researcher at the Flerov Laboratory of Nuclear Reactions at the United Nuclear Research Institute of Russia.
The center's scientific endeavors encompass a variety of research projects focused on low-dimensional systems, including structures with dimensions smaller than three. The initial team comprises 11 people, including 1 doctor of sciences, 2 associate professors, 3 PhD holders, and 6 doctoral students. These members engage in scientific pursuits in physics across various institutions in Azerbaijan, Türkiye, and Russia.
The center collaborates with several international organizations, including National Research and Development Institute for Optoelectronics (Magurele, Romania), Joint Nuclear Research Institute of the International Intergovernmental Organization (Dubna, Russia), Institute of Electronics (Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, Sofia), Institute of Nuclear Research and Nuclear Energy (Bulgaria Academy of Sciences, Sofia), Eurasian National University named after L.N. Gumilyov (Astana, Kazakhstan), Institute of Nuclear Physics (Polish Academy of Sciences, Krakow and other countries).
