On December 18, 2023, Khazar University hosted elections for the positions of president, vice-president, and senate membership of the Student Assembly (SA) in the Marble Hall. In addition to students, the university's rector, faculty deans and deputies, the director and employees of the Quality Assurance Center, and the director of public relations and media participated in the election process.
Candidates for the president and vice-president positions, comprising 12 individuals from both local and foreign students across various faculties, participated in the elections. Each faculty nominated these candidates through separate conferences.
Fakhranda Efendiyeva, the dean of the School of Science and Engineering, addressed the participants, providing information about the election process and highlighting the past activities of the Student Assembly.
A counting commission, composed of five members, including one from the outgoing Student Assembly and the rest from the deans' offices, was formed to oversee the election process. Platform presentations from the 12 candidates were followed by a secret voting process involving 54 students from different faculties. The counting commission tallied the votes, resulting in Huseyn Musayev, a second-year Mechanical Engineering student, securing 12 votes and becoming the President of the Student Assembly. Abdulla Nuriyev, a second-year Economics major, received 11 votes and was elected vice-president. Additionally, 11 students were elected as members of the Senate.
Following the elections, the university's rector, Irada Khalilova, and the director of Public Relations and Media, Alovsat Amirbeyli, expressed their wishes for success to the newly elected members of the Student Assembly in their future endeavors.
