In February, March, April 2023, Kyle Schwartz, PhD student at Edinburgh Napier University, Schotland, visited the Department of Geography and Environment of Khazar University as part of the Erasmus+ Student Exchange Program (KA 107171).

During the program, together with the department head Rovshan Abbasov and its lecturer Rovshan Karimov, Kyle Schwartz visited the regions of Azerbaijan, Uri settlements and historical places, including Ismayilli, Ivanovka, Lahij and Shamakhi. Also, meetings were held with the heads of rural municipalities of Ismayilli district. The purpose of the visits to the regions was also to conduct surveys with the local population.

Kyle Schwartz conducted a seminar on his research topic at ANAS Institute of Geography. The workshop focused on refugee migration, climate impacts and disaster risk reduction in the Himalayan region.

At the end of the program, Kyle Schwartz was presented with a certificate and a gift.
