The School of Science and Engineering awards a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree to students who have satisfactorily completed four-year programs in selected fields of science and engineering.
The curricular requirements for the Bachelor of Science degree consist of a minimum of 128 required credits. Students are required to take a summer internship during the period of study and to have a satisfactory record approved by the School.
The School offers BS degree programs in:
The scope, objectives and degree requirements for the majors offered by the School are given below.
The requirements for all the majors in undergraduate programs include:
Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree Program in Computer Science
The Computer Science Program is designed to accommodate students who want to receive professional training in computer science but do not necessarily have a strong interest in computer systems hardware. Within the curriculum, students study subject matter in software engineering, principles of programming languages, data structures, high-level programming languages, operating systems, computer modeling, computer networks, artificial intelligence, etc.
The objective of this program is to prepare students either for postgraduate study or for immediate employment, with the achievement of professional excellence in a wide range of industrial, business, and non-industrial environments, which interface with the information processing systems.
Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree Program in Computer Engineering
Computer engineering is concerned with the modeling, analysis, design, and applications of computer-related systems. Its study provides education at the undergraduate level necessary to understand, design, implement and use the software and hardware of computers and systems. Students study all principal aspects of computer systems: logic design, computer system architecture, data structures, algorithms, operating system concepts, and application of hardware and software systems in both engineering and non-engineering contents. Students combine these computer engineering studies with pertinent aspects of electrical engineering such as circuit theory, signals and systems, electronic circuits and design, integrated circuits and device utilization.
Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree Program in Petroleum Engineering
Petroleum and Gas Engineering deals with the fluid flow through subsurface formations, drilling, production, reservoir engineering and transportation of oil, gas, and other subsurface resources.
Azerbaijan has a very rich historical tradition of the oil industry. Today many international oil companies are operating in Baku, creating broad internship opportunities for the students and employment opportunities for the graduates of the School.
The curriculum in petroleum engineering includes sufficient training in basic engineering sciences to prepare the graduates for the application of engineering principles to the petroleum industry. Courses in geology give an understanding of the geological structures and conditions favorable for petroleum deposits.
The engineering fundamentals and computer tools with application to a broad range of engineering problems are emphasized.
Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree Program in Civil Engineering
The curriculum in Civil Engineering is planned to provide a sound professional education for the students. After completing courses in basic sciences, students are offered courses in Applied Mechanics, Hydraulics, Geodesy, Materials, Construction Engineering, etc. Practical experience is required for the degree and accordingly, students are required to undertake a summer internship. Elective courses are offered to enable the students to advance their knowledge in specific fields.
Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree Program in Electronics, Telecommunications, and Radio Engineering
The curriculum in Electronics, Telecommunications, and Radio Engineering is planned to provide a sound professional education for the students. After completing courses in basic sciences, students are offered major courses. Practical experience is required for the degree and accordingly, students are required to undertake summer internships. Elective courses are offered to enable the students to advance their knowledge in specific fields.
Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree Program in Physics Education
The bachelor's degree in teaching physics includes fundamental disciplines from mechanics, molecular physics, optics, nuclear physics, thermodynamics, astronomy, acoustics, radiophysics and other subjects. In addition, some elective courses are taught in accordance with the requirements of the present.
One of the main goals of the program is to train teachers and high school physicists with comprehensive knowledge and skills in physics who are well acquainted with modern teaching methods.
Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree Program in Chemical Engineering
Chemical Engineering is the field that plays a crucial role in transforming raw material into useful products-and not just necessities like food, water, and clothing, but petroleum, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, biotechnology, electronic materials, nuclear industry, polymers, composites, and coatings, etc. In addition chemical engineers rapidly meeting new challenges in novel engineering topics such as nanotechnology, biotechnology, and environmental protection.
Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree Program in Mechanical Engineering
Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree Program in Geography Education
BS in Geography Education is an undergraduate degree program in the field of geography. All courses are designed to meet the requirements of modern education standards. After graduation, geography students often work in Azerbaijani secondary schools. The Azerbaijani educational system needs highly qualified teachers, and therefore GEN tailors its curricula toward this need. With this emphasis, GEN has cultivated relationships with leading universities around the world.
Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree Program in Biology Education
This curriculum exposes the core fundamental disciplines of life sciences with different elective courses on topics such as stem cell biology, ecology, radiobiology, biostatistics, immunology, medical biology, and the biology of the central nervous system.
Our goals are to promote a general understanding of Life Sciences and provide curricula that prepare our students for education in biology, chemistry, and biology leading to a Bachelor of Science degree (BS).
