Graduate School of Science, Art and Technology

The Graduate school of Science, Art and Technology was constituted by the order of the rector of the university No.U/290 dated September 30, 2020 to improve the quality of education at the master's and doctoral levels, to train highly qualified specialists, scientific and scientific-pedagogical staff.

 

General Strategy

Being a structural unit of Khazar University, the Graduate school of Science, Art and Technology provides highly qualified specialists at the doctoral level for the preparation of master's and doctoral degrees, as well as manages and coordinates the training of scientific and scientific-pedagogical staff.

Approval of internal rules of the University, relevant rules and decisions established by the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan, as well as requirements of the Higher Attestation Commission under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan (Decree of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan dated June 11, 2019) strictly monitors the implementation of the "Regulations on the procedure for awarding scientific degrees";

The faculty supervises the educational process in the field of preparation of masters, doctoral students and dissertators at the University, preparation and defense of their thesis and dissertations, as well as organizes them in accordance with the relevant legislation.

 

Main objectives and tasks

The main objectives of the faculty is to train specialists who can work freely in specialties necessary and essential for the sustainable development of the country, as well as highly qualified scientific and scientific-pedagogical staff.

The main task of the faculty, together with other relevant institutions, is to organize the admission of masters, doctoral students, and dissertators, to assist in their quality education, research activities, professional development, and scientific work.

The faculty supervises the preparation of masters, doctoral students and dissertators at the University, the quality organization of the educational process, the defense of theses and dissertations, and promote the organization of all processes in accordance with the relevant legislation.

 

Activities 
Activities related to the programs and procedures of master's specialties include:
  • To prepare and announce admission procedures for the master's degree together with the relevant departments;
  • Develop and announce the necessary programs and procedures for the opening of new specialties together with the relevant of departments;
  • To organize the implementation of master's education at a high level;
  • Supervise the development of individual curricula for masters;
  • To control the implementation of education on the basis of the approved individual curriculum;
  • To ensure the appointment of a supervisor by the department for each student admitted to the master's degree;
  • To create conditions and control for conducting research-oriented dissertations of master's students;
  • To organize and conduct mid-term and semester exams for master students;
  • To participate in the establishment and activities of the thesis defense commission in cooperation with the departments;
  • To ensure plagiarism examination of master's dissertations;
  • To ensure the preparation and defense of master's dissertations;
  • Participate in the establishment of graduate committees for each master's degree program, along with other faculty deans and department heads.
  • To coordinate all programs and procedures related to the master's degree with the Ministry of Education and other relevant institutions outside the University and to organize the timely submission of the required documents;
  • To ensure that master's dissertations are obtained from the relevant departments and kept at the faculty and submitted to the Khazar University Library database;
  • Develop and maintain a functional database of undergraduates.

 

Activities related to doctoral and dissertation programs and procedures include:
  • To prepare a draft admission plan based on the information received from other faculties in accordance with the requirements for the relevant specialties for the preparation of the Doctor of Philosophy and to send an official application to the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan;
  • Together with the departments of the relevant faculties of the University to develop programs and procedures for the opening of new specialties for the training of doctors of philosophy;
  • To make announcements on holding the competition for the preparation of the Doctor of Philosophy in accordance with the plan approved by the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan and to work with relevant agencies to fulfill the requirements on this issue;
  • To organize admission to doctoral and dissertation programs in accordance with the relevant rules in coordination with academic departments
  • Coordinate all doctoral and dissertation programs and procedures with the Ministry of Education and other relevant institutions outside the University (Higher Attestation Commission, National Academy of Sciences, Coordinating Council for Scientific Research, etc.) and arrange for the timely submission of required documents
  • To organize and analyze the annual attestation of doctoral students and dissertators at the end of each academic year;
  • To control the organization and conduct of minimum examinations for doctoral students and dissertators;
  • To participate in the establishment and operation of the commission for the initial discussion of doctoral dissertations together with other faculties and departments;
  • To organize plagiarism examination of doctoral students and dissertators' dissertations;
  • To ensure that doctoral students and dissertators' research papers are obtained from the relevant departments and kept in the department and submitted to the Khazar University Library database;
  • Develop and maintain a functional database of doctoral students and dissertators.
