A prestigious academic gathering dedicated to the shared spiritual heritage of the Turkic world and waqf traditions will be organized in Bukhara, an ancient center of science and culture in Uzbekistan. On April 6, 2026, the "1st International Symposium on the Revival and Construction of Shared Values in the Turkic World and Turco-Islamic Waqf Culture" will convene, hosted by the International Bukhara State University. The event is being realized within the framework of close collaboration among leading academic and educational institutions of the Turkic world.
The principal organizer of the symposium is the Abul-Hasan Kharaqani Research Center at Caucasus University of Türkiye. The international partners are the International Bukhara State University of Uzbekistan and the Mevlana Institute of Literary and Philosophical Research at Khazar University of Azerbaijan.
The honorary council of the symposium includes Khazar University founder and Chairman of the Board of Directors and Trustees, Professor Hamlet Isakhanli, Rector of Caucasus University, Professor Hüsnü Kapu, and Rector of the International Bukhara State University, Professor Sharif Baratov.
The fundamental objective of the conference is to examine and discuss the waqf tradition — one of the most deeply rooted institutions of Turco-Islamic civilization — along with shared spiritual values and cultural codes, in light of contemporary scholarly approaches. A total of 44 speakers from Türkiye, Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, Pakistan, the United Kingdom, and Kazakhstan will participate in the event.
Khazar University will be represented at the symposium by Dr. Farida Seyidova, coordinator of the Mevlana Institute of Literary and Philosophical Research.
