On October 2, 2026, Telman Nusratoglu, Head of Khazar University's Department of History and Archaeology and Chairman of the Center for Turkic-Islamic Studies, gave an interview to AZERTAC on the regional and international significance of the Azerbaijan-Türkiye strategic alliance, prospects for economic and political cooperation between the two countries, and the role of this cooperation in strengthening the power of the Turkic world.

In his interview, Telman Nusratoglu noted that the strategic alliance between Azerbaijan and Türkiye is not limited to bilateral relations, but also makes a significant contribution to strengthening the economic, political, and geopolitical standing of the Turkic world.

He emphasized the importance of developing economic cooperation between the two countries in new directions, citing digital trade, the joint production of high-technology products, and the implementation of joint projects in industry, green energy, and agriculture as priority areas.

Telman Nusratoglu noted that the participation of Turkish companies in Azerbaijan's territories liberated from occupation is also of particular importance. According to him, this cooperation creates important opportunities for building new infrastructure, establishing production facilities, applying modern technologies, and increasing employment in the region.

The interview also touched on the development of the Middle Corridor as one of the main directions of Azerbaijan-Türkiye cooperation. Telman Nusratoglu noted that Azerbaijan's position as an important transport hub between East and West, together with Türkiye's access to European markets, increases the importance of this route.

He also stressed the importance of assessing the prospects of the Zangazur corridor within a broader regional context. He noted that the development of transport links could create new trade and logistics opportunities not only for Azerbaijan and Türkiye, but also for Central Asian countries and other Turkic states.

Telman Nusratoglu drew attention to the fact that cooperation in the defense industry and security sectors is also one of the important directions of the Azerbaijan-Türkiye strategic alliance. According to him, joint production projects, technology exchange, and the combining of industrial potential serve the development of both countries' defense capabilities.
