A seminar by PhD student Fatima Valiyeva, titled "Internationalization in Higher Education: Stakeholder Perspectives and the Azerbaijani Context," was held on September 28, 2026, organized by Khazar University's Graduate School of Science, Art and Technology and the Department of Education.
Fatima Valiyeva is pursuing doctoral studies in Education at the University of Southampton, England, based on a tripartite agreement between the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan and Khazar University, within the framework of the "State Program on Increasing the International Competitiveness of the Higher Education System in the Republic of Azerbaijan for 2022–2028."
During the seminar, the main directions of internationalization in higher education, the roles and approaches of various stakeholders in this process, as well as the features of internationalization in the context of Azerbaijan's higher education system, were discussed. The presentation touched on issues such as student and staff mobility, international academic cooperation, enriching curricula with international content, expanding research partnerships, and increasing the international competitiveness of higher education institutions.
During the presentation, the importance of cooperation among university leadership, academic staff, students, and other stakeholders in the successful implementation of the internationalization process was emphasized. At the same time, the importance of adapting international experience to the local institutional and socio-cultural context was noted.
The seminar continued with questions from participants and an exchange of views on the topic.
