The official opening ceremony of "Turkic World Week," dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the First Turkological Congress, was held in Baku on June 29, 2026. The events, which will continue until July 3, are being organized pursuant to a relevant Order of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev.
The opening ceremony of the event, which aims to promote the common historical, linguistic, cultural, and scientific heritage of the Turkic world and to expand international cooperation in the field of Turkology, was attended by state and government officials, representatives of international organizations, prominent scholars from various countries, researchers in the field of Turkology, heads of higher education institutions, and public figures.
Khazar University was represented at the event by Assoc. Prof. Dilbar Zeynalova, Head of the Department of Languages and Literatures; Assoc. Prof. Telman Nusratoglu, Head of the Department of History and Archaeology; and Assoc. Prof. Orkhan Valiyev, Head of the Department of Political Sciences and Philosophy.
The international congresses, scientific conferences, panel discussions, exhibitions, and cultural programs to be held within the framework of "Turkic World Week" are of significant importance in terms of studying the common scientific and cultural heritage of the Turkic peoples, establishing new scientific collaborations in the field of Turkology, and determining future directions for development. The participation of Khazar University's representatives in this prestigious international event is a further expression of the university's contribution to the development of international academic cooperation in the fields of Turkology, history, linguistics, and social sciences, as well as its commitment to the scientific integration of the Turkic world.
