Khazar University's second-year Architecture student Elmira Novruzova has gained significant experience through the Urban Forest Living Atelier (KOYA) project.
The Urban Forest Living Atelier is an international and multidisciplinary urban planning studio established in Türkiye, based on the "Horizon Planning" platform developed by Dr. Nejla Kılınç as part of her postdoctoral research. The project has been implemented three times in collaboration with Khazar University in Baku.
Elmira Novruzova first participated in the KOYA 5 event held at Khazar University, subsequently taking part in the KOYA 8 event organized in Berlin. Most recently, she participated once again in KOYA 9. Following her successful performance at the previous events, Elmira Novruzova was invited by the founder and director of the atelier, Dr. Nejla Kılınç, as a candidate junior instructor. One of KOYA's primary objectives is to cultivate future instructors from among its own participants.
Within this framework, during her visit to New York, Elmira Novruzova conducted research on the city from the perspective of housing and rental challenges facing young people, as well as the global housing issue. She analyzed living conditions, rental prices, and accommodation problems in New York based on her own observations, subsequently transforming this research into a lesson format and presenting it to the KOYA 9 participants.
This presentation marked Elmira Novruzova's first instructional experience and was received with positive feedback from both the atelier's founder, Dr. Nejla Kılınç, and the participants.
Elmira Novruzova participated as a media representative at the Safe and Sustainable Cities and Human Settlements — WUF 13 event.
As a result of Khazar University's international cooperation, Elmira Novruzova received an invitation from Malaysia and represented the organizing side as a media worker at the WUF 13 event held from May 17 to 22, 2026.
Throughout the event, photo and video coverage was carried out of meetings, discussions, speeches, and various programmes held during the day. Elmira Novruzova, together with the team, captured the key moments of the event, documenting participants' speeches and the overall atmosphere of the event through visual materials.
The photographs and videos captured were subsequently processed using dedicated software and submitted to the organizers. The visual materials were shared on the organizers' official social media pages and communication platforms, reaching a wide audience.
This event represented a significant milestone for Elmira Novruzova both in terms of gaining international experience and advancing her professional skills in media and visual communication.
