On May 14, 2026, an open lecture on the topic "Odes of Khaqani" was held at Khazar University, dedicated to the creative legacy of the great Azerbaijani poet and philosopher Khaqani Shirvani. Organized within the framework of the course "History of Azerbaijani Literature – Classical Period," taught by Rustam Lazimov, instructor of the Department of Languages and Literatures and Doctor of Philosophy in Iranian Languages and Literature, the primary aim of the open lecture was to provide students with a more comprehensive understanding of Khaqani Shirvani's rich literary and philosophical heritage, and to analyze his place in classical Azerbaijani literature and the distinctive features of his work.
The open lecture also addressed the artistic and philosophical characteristics present in the works of Khaqani Shirvani, regarded as a prominent representative of the Renaissance period of Azerbaijani literature. Additionally, one of the odes of the poet-philosopher — who elevated the genre of the ode to its pinnacle in classical literature — was examined in depth.
Deputy Dean of the School of Humanities, Education and Social Sciences Sevinj Allahverdiyeva also attended the lecture.
It should be noted that the open lecture holds particular significance as a continuation of a series of events being held at various scientific and educational institutions across the country, in accordance with the Decree signed by the head of state regarding the widely celebrated 900th anniversary of Khaqani Shirvani.
