On March 13, 2026, a seminar titled "Robotics, Ethics and Global Leadership" was held at Khazar University, delivered by Sonabeyim Huseynzade — a robotics and automation engineer, researcher at TU Dortmund University, and leader of the "IEEE Women in Engineering Azerbaijan" project.
The seminar, attended by Khazar University faculty and students, addressed the ethical and social issues arising from the use of robots not only in industry but also in hospitals, elderly care centers, and public spaces, and included interactive discussions. Drawing on research conducted with elderly individuals and humanoid robots in Sendai, Japan, detailed information was provided on the characteristics of human-robot interaction and the impact of robots' behavior in response to emotional and cultural cues on human trust.
Participants were also informed about ethical guidelines related to the development of social robots, existing governance gaps, and the technical and institutional approaches necessary for the responsible deployment of these technologies. Questions from participants were answered within the framework of the seminar.
