On February 11, 2026, Assoc. Prof. Orkhan Valiyev, Head of the Department of Political Science and Philosophy at Khazar University, gave an interview to the Bulgarian channel “Standart (Стандарт)”.

During the interview, Assoc. Prof. Valiyev emphasized that energy cooperation between Türkiye and Azerbaijan has now entered a strategic and geopolitical stage, not just an economic one. He noted that projects such as the Trans-Anatolian Gas Pipeline (TANAP) and the Trans-Adriatic Pipeline (TAP) are transforming Türkiye from a transit country into a regional energy center, and strengthening Azerbaijan as a reliable and alternative gas supplier for Europe.

At the same time, he said that if the Zangezur Corridor project is implemented, the geoeconomic and geopolitical role of the South Caucasus will further increase, and the position of Türkiye and Azerbaijan in Europe’s energy security will be strengthened.
