On February 6, 2025, the preliminary defense of the dissertation titled "Artistic, Social-Psychological Aspects and Forms of Manifestation of the Concept of Refugeeism in Contemporary Prose" was held for Gunay Yashar gizi Yediyarli, doctoral candidate at the Department of Languages and Literatures of Khazar University, submitted for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy in Philology (scientific supervisor: Associate Professor Dilber Zeynalova). The preliminary defense was attended by the faculty members of the Department of Languages and Literatures, doctoral candidates and dissertation students, specialists in the relevant field, and Gunel Bahaddinova, Dean of the School of Science, Art and Technology.

In her presentation, candidate Gunay Yediyarli substantiated the relevance of the dissertation, and provided a detailed account of the research objectives and tasks, scientific novelty, methodological foundations, and main findings. The presentation stressed that the artistic and social-psychological aspects of the concept of refugeeism in contemporary prose were examined in a systematic manner.

Prof. Badirkhan Ahmadli, who chaired the meeting, highly evaluated the presented dissertation as a completed scientific research work. The reviewers positively assessed the relevance of the dissertation topic, the appropriateness of the chosen scientific approach, and the academic value of the obtained results, while also expressing certain objections and recommendations regarding the work. During the discussion, the speakers noted the theoretical and practical significance of the dissertation and addressed questions to the candidate concerning specific aspects of the research. The answers provided by the doctoral candidate were deemed satisfactory.

At the end, a draft resolution stating that the dissertation meets the requirements set by the Higher Attestation Commission for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy in Philology was prepared and unanimously adopted.
