On January 31, 2026, a solo concert titled "In My Saz - In My Voice" by Ashug Ramin Garayev, a lecturer at Khazar University's Music and Arts Department, renowned artist, and laureate of numerous competitions and festivals in the country and abroad, was held at the Concert Hall of the Opera Studio at the Baku Music Academy, organized by Khazar University. The event was attended by the university's leadership, staff, representatives of the music community, and music lovers.
At the event, the founder of Khazar University and Chairman of the Board of Directors and Trustees, Prof. Acad. Hamlet Isakhanli, delivered a speech, discussing how Azerbaijani and Georgian ashugs have historically and currently endeavored to develop this folk art in an interconnected manner, and mentioning that the 90th anniversary of master Ashug Kamandar was celebrated solemnly at Khazar University several years ago. He spoke about Ashug Ramin Garayev's pedagogical activities at the university and his creative work as an ashug, noting his achievements.
The concert was held with the accompaniment of Khazar University's Chamber Orchestra and saz ensemble, as well as with the participation of the university's all-female choir collective.
Ashug Ramin Garayev performed the Ottoman divanisi (Poet Aghajan), Nakhchivani (Elkhan Mammadli), Koroglu dubeyti (Murad Niyazli), Mansiri (Huseyn Javan), Garayli (Movlud Shamistanoglu), Gilanar (Safar Verdiyev), "Neither I Returned, Nor You Returned" (Hamlet Isakhanli, composed by Ramin Garayev), Karam gozallamasi (Zalimkhan Yagub), Injagulu (Ashug Veysal), "Pomegranate Tree, Pomegranate Blossom" (Nabi Khazri), "My Borchali" (Ashug Kamandar), and Bash Mukhammas (Ashug Alasgar), as well as a song he composed to Hamlet Isakhanli's lyrics.
People's Artist Gulyaz Mammadova, as well as the university's vocal instructor Mahsati Jabbarova, performed at the concert. People's Artist Gulyaz Mammadova performed a song set to Hamlet Isakhanli's lyrics (composed by Tahir Akbarin).
At the end of the concert, Prof. Mahmud Kamaloglu presented the "Ashug Kamandar Medal" to Hamlet Isakhanli and Ashug Ramin Garayev by decision of Afandiyev Aflatun Kamandar oglu, Director of the Ashug Kamandar House Museum, and the Board of Directors.
