The next meeting of the Khazar University Scientific Council was held on January 29, 2026. The meeting was chaired by the Rector of the University, Dr. Raziya Isayeva, who brought the agenda items to the attention of the Scientific Council members.
The Chair announced that a new appointment had been made at Khazar University. Tahir Javadzade, appointed as Coordinator of the Department of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, was admitted to the membership of the Scientific Council in accordance with his position.
The next item concerned the nomination of Prof. Badirkhan Balagha oglu Ahmadov's three-volume textbook "History of 20th Century Azerbaijani Literature. Reviews, Analyses, Portraits" for the State Prize. Associate Professor Dilbar Zeynalova, Head of the Department of Languages and Literatures, provided detailed information about Prof. Badirkhan Ahmadov's long-term scientific and pedagogical activities at Khazar, his contributions to the field of Azerbaijani literary studies, as well as the importance of the three-volume textbook from scientific, educational and methodological perspectives. She noted that the textbook, in addition to being an important source for the systematic study, scientific analysis and generalization of 20th century Azerbaijani literature, is also intended for wide use in the teaching process at higher education institutions.
Prof. Badirkhan Ahmadov presented a brief summary of the textbook he authored, providing information about the structure of the work, its main content line and scientific innovations.
The issue was discussed by members of the Scientific Council, and as a result of the discussions, a unanimous decision was made to submit a proposal for the nomination of Prof. Badirkhan Ahmadov's three-volume textbook "History of 20th Century Azerbaijani Literature. Reviews, Analyses, Portraits" to the Commission on State Prizes of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Science, Technology, Architecture, Culture and Literature.
Rector provided detailed information to the Scientific Council members about the work carried out and planned regarding Khazar University's representation in international rankings, particularly in the QS ranking system. She emphasized that increasing the university's international prestige and strengthening its position in rankings requires the active participation and responsible approach of every staff member. The Rector noted that all academic and administrative staff of Khazar University must operate systematically within the framework of criteria and directions established for international rankings, including QS indicators, and contribute to this process.
So the next meeting of the Scientific Council concluded.
