On January 10, 2026, a scholarly article prepared by Nurlan Nasirov, Instructor at the Department of History and Archaeology and PhD in History, together with Professor Zabil Bayramli, was published in the 2025, Issue 2 of the "Social Sciences" journal of ANAS.
The article titled "The Issue of Sheikh Safiuddin's Sectarian and Ethnic Identity in Ibn Bazzaz Ardabili's 'Safvat al-Safa'" is based on Ibn Bazzaz Ardabili's Persian-language primary source "Safvat al-Safa," one of the main hagiographic sources dating to the 14th-15th centuries. The research holds significant scholarly importance in terms of determining the early stages of Safavid history, particularly the ethnic and sectarian identity of Sheikh Safiuddin, who is considered the first representative of the dynasty, as well as studying ethno-confessional processes in Azerbaijan's history.
