On December 28, 2025, an academic meeting on the topic "Research on the Paleolithic Period in Azerbaijan: Achieved Results, Problems and Future Tasks" was held, organized by "Archeology Azerbaijan" with the participation of Dr. Yagub Mammadov, leading researcher at the Institute of Archaeology and Anthropology of ANAS and faculty member at Khazar University.
During the event, the researcher provided extensive information about the geographical distribution of Paleolithic monuments across the territory of Azerbaijan and the research results of local and international expeditions conducted between 1953 and 2025. Y. Mammadov devoted particular attention to the international archaeological research conducted at the Azikh and Taglar caves, in which he participated following the Patriotic War.
The meeting was attended by historians, students, researchers, and individuals interested in the field. During the event, which continued in the form of a discussion, participants voiced their questions and obtained valuable information.
The main objective of the event was to share the achievements in studying the Paleolithic phase of Azerbaijani archaeology and to draw attention to the scientific and methodological challenges ahead.
