A cultural event dedicated to "Chilla Night," one of our ancient forgotten celebrations, was held at Khazar University on December 19, 2025. The event was organized and moderated by Aynur Gazanfarqizi, coordinator of "Khazar ICAF," in the university's Marble Hall and was received with great interest by a wide audience.
Dr. Kelsey Rice, historian-anthropologist from Berry College in the State of Georgia, USA, and Gullu Eldar Tomarli, poet, head of the "Mirvari Dilbazi Poetry Assembly" Public Association and director of the Kelaghayi Museum, delivered speeches at the event, sharing their heartfelt words.
During the event, which took place in a festive atmosphere, the National Girls Ensemble created by Aynur Gazanfarqizi presented a stage performance they had prepared related to "Chilla Night." This performance, reflecting ancient folk beliefs, the arrival of the winter chilla, and symbols of abundance and prosperity, was met with applause by the audience.
In the artistic portion of the event, the beautiful performances by the university's Choir Ensemble added a special harmony to the occasion. The performance of national music samples created a sincere and warm atmosphere in the hall, providing participants with pleasant and memorable moments.
The event held particular significance in terms of promoting our national and spiritual values, preserving our ancient celebration traditions that are being forgotten, and passing them on to the younger generation.
