On November 15, 2025, the regional stage of the "50th ICPC - International Collegiate Programming Contest" for Azerbaijan was held. The competition was organized by the ICPC Azerbaijan Community, Azerbaijan Technical University, and ADA University, in partnership with the Innovation and Digital Development Agency. The regional stage was held at the technical facilities of Azerbaijan Technical University.
A total of 52 teams (3 students + 1 team leader) from 20 higher education institutions in Azerbaijan participated in this year's competition. In addition, 3 school teams joined the process outside the competition framework.
The teams were tasked with solving 12 algorithmic problems in C++, Java, or Python within 5 hours, with solutions verified through an automatic evaluation system.
Based on the competition results, Khazar University's "KHAZAR U1" team (School of Science and Engineering, Computer Science major: Javad Gurbanov, 4th year; Huseyn Moylayev, 4th year; Rasul Ismayilzade, 2nd year; team mentor: Fariz Hasanli) placed third among 52 teams, securing qualification to the World Semifinal of the "50th ICPC - International Collegiate Programming Contest."
In total, 21 teams earned the right to participate in the next stage of the "50th ICPC" - the World Semifinal and the South Caucasus Open Championship. The semifinal stage will be held in the Republic of Georgia on December 15-17, 2025.
It should be noted that the qualifying stage of the competition for Azerbaijan took place on October 26, 2025. At this stage, 157 teams from 22 higher education institutions participated, with 63 of them advancing to the regional stage.
