Dr. Farida Seyidova, coordinator of the Mevlana Institute for Literary and Philosophical Studies (MLPRC) at Khazar University, and Assoc. Prof. Khatira Yusifova, faculty member of the Department of Languages and Literatures, participated in the international conference "Sufism and Interfaith Dialogue," traditionally organized by Gauhati University in India on Sufi studies.
The international conference was held from November 9-12, 2025, organized by the Department of Persian Language and Literature at the aforementioned university. The scholarly event lasted three days, and presentations by experts from universities in Uzbekistan, Russia, Tajikistan, Hungary, Bangladesh, Azerbaijan, Switzerland, Iran, as well as various universities in India were heard in different sessions.
At the conference, Farida Seyidova, coordinator of the Mevlana Institute for Literary and Philosophical Studies, delivered a presentation on Yaqub Khan Kashgari, considered one of the representatives of the Sufi bridge between India and Azerbaijan, titled "Representative of the Shabaniyyah Branch of the Khalwati Sufi Order of Azerbaijani Origin in India: Yaqub Khan Kashgari," while Associate Professor Khatira Yusifova, staff member of the Department of Languages and Literatures, presented on "The Concept of Ego in Mevlana Rumi's Thought and the Spiritual Ascent to the Divine Being." Their presentations delivered in English were received with interest by conference participants, and questions posed were answered.
