On November 12, 2025, Mirsadiq Mukhtarov, a staff member of Khazar University's Psychology Department and a psychologist at the Khazar Psychological Service Center, gave an interview to the "İnformator.az" news website. The psychologist discussed the effects of artificial intelligence and technological dependency on human psychology in the modern era.
He stated that artificial intelligence, while being one of the most rapidly developing technological fields in recent years, significantly affects people's thinking, learning, and decision-making processes. Mirsadiq Mukhtarov noted that the short-term satisfaction arising from technological platforms and communication with artificial intelligence, influenced by the dopamine reward system, can form addiction. This addiction can weaken people's confidence in their own abilities, as well as reduce their analytical thinking and independent decision-making capabilities. The psychologist also emphasized that the formation of a "virtual self" can lead to negative consequences for emotional health and real social relationships.
The psychologist also noted the importance of increasing digital awareness in schools and among young people, and conducting educational work about the emotional effects of technology.
