On October 28, 2025, an event dedicated to the work of renowned pianist and pedagogue, Honored Art Worker, and currently Professor at San Jose State University in California, USA, Namig Sultanov, was held at Khazar University's Marble Hall. The event was organized by Music and Arts Department within the university's "Face to Face" project. University leadership and staff, prominent cultural and art figures of the country, and guests attended the event.
Khazar University's founder and Chairman of the Board of Directors and Trustees, Prof. Acad. Hamlet Isakhanli, welcomed participants and guests, noting that since its establishment, the university has designated one of the courses in culture and arts as mandatory for students, and the country's music and art professionals, including master pianist Namig Sultanov, our guest today, have provided significant assistance to the university in the development of this complex work. The Music and Arts Department established at the university has demonstrated high organizational capacity in this field, and today this work continues successfully under the leadership of renowned pianist and honored teacher Zulfiyya Sadigova.
People's Artist of Azerbaijan Prof. Gulnaz Ismayilova spoke, saying that she began her first steps with the piano in Namig Sultanov's class and that her subsequent successes are connected with her teacher's name.
Zulfiyya Sadigova, Director of Khazar University's Music and Arts Department, proudly noted that she was Namig Sultanov's last student in Azerbaijan and expressed her gratitude to her teacher for her achievements.
"Golden Pen" media award winner, "Khari Bulbul" laureate, Honored Art Worker, Professor at Baku Music Academy Elnara Dadashova, and Director of the State "Qaya" Ensemble, PhD in Art Studies Turan Mammadaliyeva spoke and shared their heartfelt words about the distinguished artist with the audience.
Musicians who are members of Namig Sultanov's family - his wife Sevil Sultanova, Narmina and Nigar Sultanovas - also participated in the event.
Throughout the event, participants were presented with an engaging concert program accompanied by Khazar University's Chamber Orchestra (artistic director Zulfiyya Sadigova, conductor Huseyn Karimov).
The Chamber Orchestra performed "Aisha's Dance" from Gara Garayev's ballet "Seven Beauties" and "Girls' Dance" from Arif Malikov's ballet "Legend of Two Hearts." People's Artist Gulnaz Ismayilova performed Luigi Arditi's romance "Il Bacio," Dilbar's song from Fikrat Amirov's opera "Sevil," and the folk song "You Cannot Be My Beloved"; Khazar University Chamber Orchestra performer Emil Huseynov performed Khayyam Mirzazade's "Shur"; piano teacher at Azerbaijan National Conservatory Matanat Azmanli performed People's Artist Sardar Farajov's "Celebration on the Jidir Plain"; and Narmina and Nigar Sultanovas performed numbers 5 and 6 from Brahms's "Hungarian Dances."
Khazar's Rector Raziyya Isayeva presented Namig Sultanov with a gift from Khazar University.
Namig Sultanov expressed his deep gratitude to Khazar for the high-level organization of event.
