Assoc. Prof. Orkhan Valiyev, Head of the Department of Political Science and Philosophy at Khazar University, was on an official visit to the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences of Tbilisi State University on October 20–22, 2025, at the invitation of that university. He was invited on the occasion of the fifth anniversary of the Second Karabakh War, which played a decisive role in changing the geopolitical status of the South Caucasus.
During the visit, Assoc. Prof. Valiyev delivered two lectures on “Azerbaijani National Identity” and “Azerbaijani Foreign Policy in the Post-Conflict Period” to the master’s students of the faculty within the framework of the Erasmus program. He also visited the Heydar Aliyev Auditorium, established at Tbilisi State University at the initiative of the Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Georgia.
During the visit, Assoc. Prof. Orkhan Valiyev met with the rector of the university, Prof. Jaba Samushia, and the dean of the faculty, Assoc. Prof. Salome Dundua. During these meetings, opportunities for inter-university cooperation and possible directions of joint scientific activities within the framework of the research project that Assoc. Prof. Valiyev is currently working on were discussed.
In addition, as a result of negotiations with dean Assoc. Prof. Salome Dundua, a preliminary agreement on cooperation within the framework of the “Khazar University Forum 2026” was reached.
At the end of both meetings, the books "In Search of Khazar" and "My Karabakh or the Karabakh Knot" written by Khazar University's Chairman of the Board of Directors and Trustees, Prof. Hamlet Isakhanli, were presented to the rector and dean, and the meetings ended with commemorative photos being taken.
As part of the visit program, Assoc. Prof. Orkhan Valiyev visited the graves of Hasan bey Aghayev and Fatali khan Khoyski, founders of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic, and the pioneers of Azerbaijani enlightenment and modernization history Mirza Fatali Akhundzade and Mirza Shafi Vazeh, as well as the monument to the great leader Heydar Aliyev in Tbilisi. He also visited the house museums of Mirza Fatali Akhundzade and Nariman Narimanov.
