On October 17, 2025, the Second International Symposium "Research on Azerbaijani Language and Literature in the Turkic World" was held in Kars, Türkiye. The event was organized by the Department of Modern Turkic Languages and Literatures of Caucasus University and the Department of Languages and Literatures of Khazar University, in partnership with the Consulate General of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Kars, the State Committee for Work with the Diaspora of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Federation of Türkiye-Azerbaijan Associations, Nar company, Karabakh University, and Nakhchivan State University. The symposium was dedicated to the 20th anniversary of the Department of Azerbaijani Turkish and Literature, which operates at the bachelor's and master's levels exclusively at Caucasus University in Türkiye, and to the 5th anniversary of the Karabakh victory.
For information, we note that the First Symposium "Azerbaijani Language and Research in the Turkic World" was held on December 5-6, 2024, at Khazar University, organized by the Department of Languages and Literatures.
At the opening ceremony, speeches were delivered by Prof. Engin Kılıç, Vice-Rector of Caucasus University; Prof. İlkin Gulusoy, Head of the Department of Contemporary Turkic Dialects and Literatures and Azerbaijani Turkish and Literature at the Faculty of Arts and Sciences; Zamin Aliyev, Consul General of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Kars; Assoc. Prof. Dilber Zeynalova, Head of the Department of Languages and Literatures at Khazar University; Assoc. Prof. Najiba Nasibova, Education Advisor of the Republic of Azerbaijan; Academician Nizami Jafarov, Director of the Atatürk Center; Prof. Hikmat Babayev, Member of Parliament of the Republic of Azerbaijan; Sattar Kaya, Deputy Chairman of the Federation of Türkiye-Azerbaijan Associations; Farizat Kuramayeva, lecturer at Yusuf Balasagun Kyrgyz National University; and online, Hokuma Karimova, Head of the Public Relations and Corporate Communications Department of Nar company. The speakers emphasized the scientific significance of the symposium and its role in strengthening unity in the Turkic world.
At the opening ceremony, plaques were also presented to Assoc. Prof. Dilber Zeynalova, Head of the Department of Languages and Literatures at Khazar University, and Hokuma Karimova, Head of the Public Relations and Corporate Communications Department of Nar company, for their contributions to the symposium.
Following the official part, the Heydar Aliyev Education Center in Kars was visited, organized by the State Committee for Work with the Diaspora of the Republic of Azerbaijan, and books were donated.
In the second part of the symposium, scientific presentations by participants were heard. Assoc. Prof. Dilber Zeynalova, Head of the Department of Languages and Literatures at Khazar University, chaired one of the panels. Department staff members – Prof. Badirkhan Ahmadov, Assoc. Prof. Ziver Huseynli Baylan, Dr. Almaz Badalova, Dr. Yegzar Jafarli, Sevinj Allahverdiyeva, Mansura Ahmadova, and Fargana Alasgarli – delivered presentations on various topics.
Within the framework of the event, Assoc. Prof. Dilber Zeynalova met with Prof. Selçuk Ural, Vice-Rector of Caucasus University, expressed gratitude for the high-level organization of the symposium, and exchanged views on future collaboration directions.
On October 18, on the occasion of the Restoration of Independence Day of Azerbaijan, staff members of Khazar University, representatives of Caucasus University, and other scholars waved the flags of Azerbaijan, Khazar University, and Nar on the Turkish-Armenian border, on the banks of the Arpa River.
