On October 15, 2025, Dr. Odar Alizade, faculty member of Khazar University's Department of History and Archaeology, delivered a presentation titled "The Importance of 5th-Century Grabar Sources in the Study of Azerbaijan's History" at the Republican Scientific Conference "Topical Issues of Azerbaijan's Medieval History" organized by the Institute of History and Ethnology named after A.A. Bakikhanov of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences.
During the presentation, the process of emergence of 5th-century Grabar (Classical Armenian language) historical sources was first examined, and information was provided about the authors of that period and their works. Subsequently, the significance of Grabar historical sources for the early medieval history of Azerbaijan's geography, as well as for the political and cultural development of the South Caucasus, was explained. Finally, the place of research on these sources in historiography and the scientific-methodological problems arising from their use were discussed.
