The Ecological Research Center of Khazar University collaborated with Absheron National Park to host an educational event on February 9, 2024, marking the 19th anniversary of the park's establishment. The event, attended by students from Zira settlement school, featured a personal exhibition by renowned photographer Aydin Mehdiyev, a representative of the Azerbaijan Photographers' Union, known for capturing the beauty of Azerbaijan's natural landscapes. A. Mehdiyev's exhibition, titled "Be a Friend to Nature!", showcased the diverse natural wonders of Azerbaijan.
Rovshan Abbasov, director of the Environmental Center at Khazar University and a member of the Public Council under the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources, emphasized the importance of the messages "Reduce your waste" and "Recycle" during his presentation. He highlighted the significant impact of plastic waste on our environment, stating that cleaning up waste is essential for the preservation of nature. R. Abbasov stressed that waste encompasses not only plastic but also sewage, carbon emissions, and other hazardous pollutants. He emphasized the urgent need to minimize waste generation, suggesting the reduction of packaging as a viable solution. Failure to address this issue, R. Abbasov warned, will lead to severe consequences for the future.
The event saw participation from representatives of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources, journalists, and members of NGOs.
