On February 21, 2024, a scientific seminar was organized by the Department of Languages and Literatures on the occasion of the International Mother Language Day with the participation of Professor Sevinj Aliyeva, director of the Monitoring Center under the State Language Commission of the Republic of Azerbaijan. The head of the Department of Languages and Literatures, Assoc. Prof. Dilbar Zeynalova, who opened the event with an opening speech, gave the floor to Sevinj Aliyeva.
During her address, the scientist provided an extensive overview of the center's initiatives, emphasizing the government's commitment to the language and the reverence shown by National Leader Heydar Aliyev and President Ilham Aliyev toward Azerbaijani language. She highlighted various language-related projects and significant matters. Additionally, she underscored the global efforts underway to support the Azerbaijani language, not only within our nation but across the world. Discussions ensued regarding the center's undertakings, instances of Azerbaijani language norm violations in media platforms such as television, radio, and the internet, as well as the incorporation of new vocabulary into our language.
Answering the students' questions, Prof Sevinj Aliyeva gave recommendations to young people about love for the Azerbaijani language, protection and preservation of its purity. In the continuation of the event, a video was shown featuring international students from Khazar University reciting the poem " The life would be so easy..." by Prof. Acad. Hamlet Isakhanli, the chairman of the Board of Directors and Trustees of the university.
