On March 16-17, 2023, the 1st Eurasian Forum of Scientific Journal Editors "East-West: Authority and Potential" was held in Baku at the initiative of Abay Kazakh National Pedagogical University (Abay University), Khazar University and Kazakhstan University of Technology and Business. The forum was organized with the support of the Committee for Quality Assurance in the Field of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan State Pedagogical University and "Akbastau Gardens" LLC.
The guests of the forum were welcomed by the founder of Khazar University, the chairman of the board of directors and trustees, professor, academician Hamlet Isakhanli and the rector, associate professor Irada Khalilova, deputy chairman of the Committee for Quality Assurance in Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan Adiljan Nurjanov, head of the Center for Scientific Publications of Abay University, Dr. Talgatli Kibayev.
The forum was moderated by Vlad Vernygora, Khazar University's vice-rector for international relations, and Saule Isaliyeva, technical secretary of Abay University's "Pedagogy and Psychology" scientific-methodical journal.
The forum was attended by representatives of publishers, scientific journals, researchers, teachers and university students from Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Estonia, Turkey, Italy, Thailand, Uzbekistan and Poland. Dr. Ildana Khalitova (Abay University, Kazakhstan), Krystian Stefanski (Poland), Professor Tanel Kerikmäe (Tallinn University of Technology, Estonia), Associate Professor Orkhan Valiyev (Khazar Journal of Humanities and Social Sciences, Khaz University, Azerbaijan), Vlad Vernygora (Khazar University, Azerbaijan ) made presentations in the panel section.
Within the framework of the forum, the results of the First International Research Competition "Bilim zhane Bolashak" were concluded, the winners presented research projects at the "Zhana Izdenister" scientific projects competition. The representatives of the publishing house "Sciendo" (De Gruyter) talked about the history of the company, its journals and the prerequisites for publishing high-quality academic articles.
Finally, Kazakhstan-Azerbaijan "East-West" scientific-methodical journal for Master and PhD students was presented at the forum. In online and offline formats, the participants discussed the issues of publishing scientific articles in high-ranking journals, establishing the Eurasian Scientific Journals Association, the need to form a single professional platform for interaction between undergraduates and doctoral students from different countries, and writing scientific articles.
