Professor Hamlet Isakhanli, the founder of Khazar University and Chairman of the Board of Directors and Trustees, said in his interview to Moderator.az on February 27, 2023.

Talking about the reputation of universities in Azerbaijan, Hamlet Isakhanli paid more attention to the situation in state universities:

“In Azerbaijan, it is necessary to raise the reputation of state universities before than private ones, as the vast majority of students study at state universities. The number of these universities is large, but there are also many weak ones. Similarly, among private universities, there are low, medium and strong universities. Considering that the vast majority of students study at a state university, it is necessary to pay attention to increasing their strength.

The situation is quite different in this sphere in the world, as every country has its own traditions. For example, with the exception of Eastern Europe, most universities in Europe are public. There are very few private universities. However, they are autonomous and act freely. All good universities, without exception, are state or public-status universities.

“In America, the situation is opposite. The vast majority of strong universities there are private. There are strong state universities, but in this sector attention is mainly paid to private universities’, the professor mentioned at the end.
