On December 16, 2021, about 20 media outlets in the country reported that Khazar University ranked No. 1 among Azerbaijani universities in the QS EECA University Rankings 2022.

The news says that Khazar University is ranked 211-220 in the list of the best universities in the region according to the ranking table published by the QS Rating Agency for 2021 in the "Emerging Eastern Europe and Central Asia" region on December 15, 2021. It took the first place among Azerbaijani universities:
