On April 27, 2021, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan to Azerbaijan Bilal Hayee visited Khazar University and met with Professor Hamlet Isakhanli, founder of Khazar University, Chairman of the Board of Directors and Trustees, Irada Khalilova, Rector of the University, and Heads of the Departments.
At the beginning of the meeting, the Ambassador noted that the Islamic Republic of Pakistan has always supported Azerbaijan, as well as during the Great Patriotic War. He congratulated the people of Azerbaijan on the victory and expressed his intention to visit the beautiful city of Shusha. The Ambassador then stressed the interest of Pakistani students on studying in Azerbaijan and the role of Khazar University as one of the country's leading universities. He also expressed gratitude for the conditions created for the education of students from Pakistan.
During the meeting, the parties highly appreciated the academic activities of Imtiaz Ahmad, a Pakistani student majoring in petroleum engineering at Khazar University, and his important role in organizing the meeting between Khazar University and the Pakistani Embassy. The parties discussed opportunities for long-term cooperation between Khazar University and Pakistani universities in the fields of science and engineering, the humanities, and economic research. The opportunities for cooperation with Pakistani universities in the areas of student mobility, academic exchange, joint research and publications, and conferences and seminars on topics of mutual interest were also considered during the meeting.
Rector of Khazar University, Irada Khalilova, provided information on existing scholarship programs and the Nailakhanim Scholarship Program, newly established by Khazar University's Board of Directors and Trustees for the education of talented women to enter higher education. Dr. Khalilova noted the support provided by the university in the establishment of the Union of Pakistani Students in Azerbaijan.
Professor Hamlet Isakhanli asked Pakistani students to come and study at Khazar University getting this scholarship, Professor also invited scholars to teach at Khazar University. The Ambassador thanked for all the scholarship opportunities and the invitation of Pakistani scholars, and stressed that Khazar University will continue to support the establishment of successful and fruitful cooperation with Pakistani universities and research centers. In addition, the ambassador said he would recommend that the country's Higher Education Commission select talented students for the scholarships offered.
