On December 20, 2019, a public presentation of the Mawlana Literary and Philosophical Research Center (MAFAM), which began its activity upon the joint arrangements of Khazar University and “NAB” Holding, was held within the Mawlana Jalaluddin Rumi's commemoration week at Khazar University Marble Hall.
The event was attended by Khazar University Leadership and staff, students, country’s prominent representatives of science and art, and guests.
Opening the event, Professor Hamlet Isakhanli, the Founder of Khazar University and Chairman of its Board of Directors and Trustees, spoke about the goals and objectives, significance of the establishment of MAFAM.
While delivering their statements, Associate Professor Jihan Ozdemir, Director of Yunus Emre Institute, Ganira Pashayeva, journalist, poet, public figure, welcomed the establishment of MAFAM at Khazar University and expressed confidence that it would play a major role in the formation of national-moral values.
The event was followed by an interesting concert program. The musical composition based on the lyrics by Nasimi was performed with the participation of Alim Gasimov, people’s artist, and Fargana Gasimova, honored artist, together with the University’s Chorus team, followed by their duet rendition of the song “Kor ərəbin mahnısı” (“Song of the Blind Arab”) from the “Sheikh Senan” verse play by Huseyn Javid, accompanied by Khazar University Chamber Orchestra (Artistic Director Zulfiyya Sadigova, Head of Music and Fine Arts Department, honored teacher, professor, pianist). David Azad, who is known for his knowledge of Iranian and Turkish folk music, lecturer on Iranian music at Oxford University and who delivers master classes, performed songs accompanied by his orchestra. Khazar University girls' dance group was also presented to the participants.
