On December 16, 2019, Confucius Institutes of Khazar University and Baku State University organized the “Winter Solstice Festival and Chinese Cuisine” at the University.

Delivering his statement at the opening ceremony, Professor Hamlet Isakhanli, Founder of Khazar University and Chairman of its Board of Directors and Trustees, talked about China's historical role in world culture, its recent transformation into one of the world's leading economies, history of relations between China and Azerbaijan, and the role of Chinese language and culture in the globalized world. He emphasized the role of Confucius institutions in the promotion of Chinese culture worldwide, in establishing cultural, economic and scientific relations of China with other countries. Professor Hamlet Isakhanli highly appreciated the activity of Khazar University branch of the Confucius Institute at BSU.

Associate Professor Irada Khalilova, Rector of Khazar University, and Ogtay Jalilbeyli, Confucius Institute Director for Azerbaijan, emphasized the importance of the event. It was noted that China is a country with ancient history and rich culture.

It is worth mentioning, this country, which is known for its multifaceted tradition of celebrations, the New Year is celebrated on 20^th of December.

The event was concluded with a music program.
