For few years Khazar University has been participating at Uzeyir Hajibayli International Music Festival organized by Heydar Aliyev Foundation and the Ministry of Economy held on 18-30 October of each year. Khazar University was also listed at the program of the upcoming festival announced at the beginning of August.
Within the framework of the festival, on 27th of September the Chamber Orchestra of the University delivered an extensive concert at Fikrat Amirov Conference-Concert Center under organization and direction of pianist Zulfiyya Sadigova, the Head of Music and Art department of Khazar University, distinguished teacher.
The event was attended by management, staff and students of Khazar University, music and culture figures of the country, as well as Sardar Farajov, secretary of the Composers' Union of Azerbaijan, People's Artist.
Opening the event with introductory speech, the founder of Khazar University, the Chairman of the Board of Directors and Trustees, Professor Hamlet Isakhanli spoke about the creative works of Uzeyir Hajibeyli and the importance of the festival. Then a film about the ingenious composer was demonstrated.
In the repertoire of the Chamber Orchestra, along with the works of great composers as Uzeyir Hajibeyli, Fikret Amirov, Tofig Guliyev, Rauf Hajiyev and Arif Malikov, the works of people's artist Sardar Farajov, People's artist Vasif Allahverdiyev, distinguished artist Jeyhun Allahverdiyev and Sevda Rakhimova were represented.
Soloists were the distinguished artists - Farida Mammadova, Lala Mammadova, Elnara Mammadova (Russia) and Anton Ferstandt, a laureate of international competitions, Presidential awardee - Taleh Yahyayev, Laureate of international competitions - Mahir Taghizade, Elnara Mammadova, laureate of international competitions, laureate of republican competitions Emin Zeynalli, and Rufat Piriyev, PhD student of Baku Music Academy.
It should be noted that Hamlet Isakhanli’s poem set to music was sung for the first time, including “Fələyin işi” (“Destiny’s Work”, composed by Sevda Rahimova) and “Bir zamanlar” (“Once Upon a Time, composed by Jeyhun Allahverdiyev).
The concert, which was accompanied by the applause of the audience, was a worthy contribution to Uzeyir Hajibayli Festival.
