On June 12, 2019, a Ceremony on the occasion of awarding the Title of Honorary Doctor of Khazar University to Boris Mityagin, Russian-American prominent mathematician scientist, Professor of Ohio State University, was held at the Khazar University’s Marble Hall. The Ceremony was attended by Khazar University Leadership, members and staff of the Scientific Council, scientists and experts from Azerbaijan and foreign countries, taking part in the 2nd International Conference on “Operators, Functions, and Systems of Mathematical Physics” (OFSMP).

After the Conference was opened by Dr. Ali Huseynli, Head of the Mathematics Department at Khazar University, a presentation film about Khazar University was demonstrated.

Associate Professor Irada Khalilova, Rector of Khazar University, delivering speech welcomed the participants and informed that by the decision of the Academic Council of the University on May 8, 2019, Boris Mityagin was awarded the Title of Honorary Doctor of Khazar University for the remarkable contributions to mathematics and its application.

Farhad Huseynov, Professor at ADA University and post-graduate student of Boris Mityagin, spoke about scientist's activities, and his research in the field of functional analysis and mathematical economics.

Professor Hamlet Isakhanli, the Founder of Khazar University and Chairman of its Board of Directors and Trustees delivering an extensive talk, spoke about the multifaceted development of mathematical sciences in modern times and Boris Mityagin’s active participation in this process and presented him the Diploma of the Honorary Doctor of Khazar University.

Finally, Boris Mityagin in his statement expressed appreciation to the University Leadership and the participants for high evaluation of his work by Khazar University.

The concert program of the Camera Orchestra of the University was presented to the participants, led by Zulfiyya Sadigova, Associate Professor Zulfiyya Sadigova, Head of Music and Fine Arts Department, honored teacher, pianist.
