On February 27, 2017, an event dedicated to the Khojaly tragedy was held at Khazar University with the coordination and participation of Khazar University students majoring in Azerbaijani Language and Literature. The event included poetry, music and stage performances by students Saida Jabbarova, Aytaj Hasanova, Ayten Asgarov, Salatin Ibrahimli, Ayshen Mustafalı, Sakina Alakbarova, Aytaj Mammadzade, Müjgan Ferrukhlu, Sugra Aliyeva, Pinar Mammadzade, Mirhejer Kazimli. They also spoke about the tragedy, its causes and consequences.

Vurgun Ayyub, Head of the Department of Azerbaijani Language and Literature; and Alovsat Amirbeyli, Director of Public Relations and Media also took part in the event. Vurgun Ayyub made a closing speech in which he expressed his gratitude to the organizers and participants.
