On December 8, 2016, the Ministry of Emergency Situations (MES) of the Azerbaijan Republic organized an event at Khazar University entitled “Everyday Safety in the Eyes of Students.” The objective of the event, which is being held at various higher educational institutions of Baku, is to become familiar with students’ perspectives on safety related to everyday activities, to discuss achievements, problems and prospects in this area, and to introduce new ideas about how to prevent emergencies and reduce their negative consequences.
Participants in the event included representatives of the MES, leadership of Azerbaijan Students’ Youth Organizations Union, and university students.
Dr. Hasan Niknafs, President of the University, opened the event with a speech. Then speeches about the significance of the event were made by Lieutenant Colonel Elnur Gasimov, Deputy Head of the MES Regional Center for Baku; Hasan Aliyev, Director of the Department for Coordination with NGOs of the Azerbaijan Students’ Youth Organizations Union; and Alovsat Amirbeyli, Director for Public Relations and Media of Khazar University.
Then a video prepared by the employees of the MES Regional Center for Baku was shown. After the film, the following university students made presentations on various themes: Emil Bayramov and Fatima Ganbarli (Khazar University), Mirramin Yusifov (MES Academy), Ilaha Balakishiyeva (Azerbaijan University of Languages), Sozali Gurbanov (Azerbaijan State Economics University), Ulvi Mirzeyev (Azerbaijan Cooperation University), Hayat Garayeva (Baku State University), Farid Alakbarli and Rauf Valiyev (Azerbaijan Medical University).
The event closed with a question-and-answer session.
