As we previously reported, thirteen international students from countries like Afghanistan, Gambia, Iran, Iraq, Pakistan, Palestine, Turkey, Yemen and Zimbabwe appeared in a social video about multiculturalism within a project entitled “The Irreplaceable Resource of the Azerbaijani People: Traditions of Multiculturalism” supported by the Youth Fund under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan in connection with the year of multiculturalism (www.khazar.org and Khazar Review journal, November 2016).
On December 1st, a presentation of the video entitled “We are Different, but We are All Azerbaijani” was held at the International Press Center.
The author of the project, Jahangir Nasirov, noted that the taping of the social project took place at Khazar University. Students from 11 different countries participated in the project. The project manager gave information about the objective of the project, noting that it is the duty of every young person to preserve our national values which stem from history and from our national mentality. One of the values that sets our country apart from other countries is the tradition of multiculturalism. Our goal is to call on young people to preserve our national values, to help young people make a contribution to the “Year of Multiculturalism” which was announced by the president, and to share Azerbaijan’s great experience in the area of multiculturalism.
Students participating in the filming expressed their love for Azerbaijan and the brotherhood that they feel here.
Participants in the presentation applauded the young people’s attention to multicultural values, and they said that the film was produced very professionally. The international students participating in the filming spoke in their own languages, which made the film more interesting and will create an opportunity for foreign citizens to watch the film as well.
