On November 21, 2016, a jubilee birthday party was held at Khazar University with the participation of university administrators and staff members to celebrate the 80th birthday of Chief Accountant Karim Karimov; the 60th birthday of Elza Ismayilova, instructor of the Azerbaijani Language and Literature Department, who was unable to attend due to unforeseen circumstances; and the 50th birthday of Dr. Nuru Safarov, Head of the Department of Electronics, Telecommunications and Radio Engineering.

The announcer of the event was Baba Bayramli, Director of the Center for Alumni Relations. He spoke about each of the honored staff members listed above, and then a slide show prepared by the Multimedia Center with photos of each of them was shown.

Congratulatory speeches were made by Professor Hamlet Isaxanli, the founder of Khazar University and Chairman of its Board of Directors and Trustees; Dr. Hasan Niknafs, President of the University; Professor Mahammad Nuriyev, Vice President of Khazar University for Academic Affairs; Dr. Farda Asadov, Director of the Center for Eurasia and Middle East Studies;

Dr. Ingilab Ahmadov, Dean of the School of Economics and Management; Dr. Eldar Shahgaldiyev, Head of the Division for Graduate Students and Research; and Firangiz Nasirova, Senior Instructor of the Department of English Language and Literature.

Karim Karimov and Nuru Safarov were given bouquets, congratulatory letters and gifts. They cut a birthday cake and thanked the university administration as well as all the participants in the party.

Mahsati Jaffarova, soloist for the State Philharmonic, performed musical numbers accompanied by Associate Professor Zulfiyya Sadigova, Head of the Department of Music and Fine Arts. The party also included music and dancing.
