On November 4, 2016, a concert was given in the World Concert Hall of Khazar University’s downtown campus as part of the traditional “Face to Face” project to organize evenings with people of science, literature and arts. This evening was dedicated to composer Sardar Farajov, secretary of Azerbaijan Composers’ Union, director of the Uzeyir Hajibeyli House Museum and Meritorious Servant of the Arts. Participants in the event included Khazar University administrators and students, People’s Artist and composer Arif Melikov, and other people of culture and arts.The emcee of the event was music scholar Nargiz Karimova.
The evening included a rich concert program of the composer’s works with performances by the Khazar University Chamber Orchestra (concertmaster: Nasrin Rzyaeva); pianist and Associate Professor Zulfiyya Sadigova, Chair of Khazar University’s Department of Music and Fine Arts; pianist/accompanist Sevinj Karimova, international competition winners including violinists Umid Mustafayev, Nargiz Aliyeva, Zarrin Aliyeva; kamancha player Madina Shahgaldiyeva and vocalist Farida Mammadova.
The concert included the composer’s works for string ensembles, waltzes, works for violin and piano, and romances. Singer Farida Mammadova gave premiere performances of songs that the composer wrote to the lyrics of Professor Hamlet Isaxanli, the founder of Khazar University and Chairman of its Board of Directors and Trustees, including “A Cloud Left from Childhood” and “Istanbul Bosphorus.”
Speeches were made by Dr. Zamfira Gafarova, music scholar and secretary of the Composers’ Union; Rovshan Almuradli, theater and film director; Meritorious Servant of Arts and opera director Professor Aflatun Neymetzada; and People’s Artist and tar player Ramiz Quliyev.
Hamlet Isaxanli also made a speech about the university’s “Face to Face” project, and he presented a thank-you certificate to Sardar Farajov as well as a portrait drawn by Afag Karimova, artist and university instructor.
Then Sardar Farajov made a speech to thank the Khazar University administration and participants.
