On November 2, 2016, the Open Class program was broadcast live on Public TV on the theme “Scientific Development and Academic Publications in Azerbaijan.” Professor Hamlet Isaxanli, the founder of Khazar University and Chairman of its Board of Directors and Trustees, participated in the program and presented his analysis of the current situation. He emphasized the differences between the Soviet period and today, and he spoke about problems of scholars, institutes and universities. He also touched on theoretical and practical differences as well as connections between scientific research and industry. He gave information about scientific journals including Khazar Journal of Humanities and Social Sciences, and about work that has been done at Khazar University towards the development of science. He emphasized the importance of government policy on scientific development and mentioned current problems in the fields of grant registration and migration as well as possible solutions to solve them.
Participants on the Open Class program included representatives of Khazar University, Baku State University and the Baku representative for Intellectual Property of the Thomson Reuters Agency. The program included a detailed discussion about the challenges remaining for the development of science.
