On October 18, 2016, Khazar University’s affiliate Dunya School held a series of events entitled “The Rebirth of the Sun” to celebrate October 18- Independence Day of the Azerbaijan Republic.
The events began with student and staff field trips to the National Leader Heydar Aliyev Museum and Azerbaijani Independence Museum. The school library also opened an exhibit of students’ artwork. The school played patriotic poems and songs over the intercom.
Students also had special classes during the week to discuss the 25th anniversary of our country’s independence.
At the end of the week, a large assembly was held in the school’s auditorium for students and teachers. History teachers spoke about Azerbaijan’s recent history and about the history of Independence Day.
Students from Azerbaijani, Russian, and English sectors recited Semed Vurghun’s poem “Azerbaijan” and other poems in three languages.
A short video about independence was shown, and the students ended the assembly with a national dance.
