On October 10, 2016, the Ambassador of Indonesia to the Azerbaijan Republic, Dr. H. Husnan Bey Fananie, visited Khazar University to meet with the university administration. Participants from the Embassy of Indonesia also included Ms. Anggraeni Widiastuti, the first secretary, and Ms. Parvana Karimova, senior administrative assistant. The meeting was held on the university’s Neftchilar campus.

Khazar University was represented by Dr. Hassan Niknafs, President; Dr. Ingilab Ahmadov, Dean of the School of Economics and Management; Dr. Jabir Khalilov, Dean of the School of Humanities and Social Sciences; and Ms. Turan Jafarova, Director of the International Affairs Office.

The Ambassador spoke about Indonesia, its culture, economy, and education system. He informed the meeting participants about scholarship opportunities provided by the Indonesian Government to Azerbaijani students. Dr. Fananie expressed his gratitude to Khazar University for the scholarships it provides to Indonesian citizens. Currently, two students from Indonesia study at Khazar University through the Khazar University International Scholarship Program.

President of Khazar Universiry, Dr. Hassan Niknafs, spoke about the history of Khazar University, its schools, programs, resources, laboratories, research capacity and other important academic aspects.  He also provided information about the dormitory of the university that was recently opened. Ms. Turan Jafarova emphasized that the university was interested in attracting more students from Indonesia and in strengthening cooperation with universities in Indonesia.

The Ambassador of Indonesia presented a memorable gift to the President. A promotional package of Khazar University was also presented to the representatives of the embassy.
