On October 4, 2016, an International Teachers’ Day (October 5^th) Celebration was held at Khazar University’s affiliate Dunya School together with the Binagadi District Executive Power and the Republic Committee of the Azerbaijan Educational Workers’ Free Trade Union. Participants in the event included Professor Hamlet Isaxanli, the founder of Khazar University and Chairman of its Board of Directors and Trustees; Aygun Aliyeva, Deputy Head of the Binagadi District Executive Power; Mirza Jafarzada, Deputy Chair of the Republic Committee of the Azerbaijan Educational Workers’ Free Trade Union; Huseyn Asgarov, Deputy Head of the Baku Board of Education; Asef Zamanov, Chairman of the Society of Intellectuals of Binagadi District; Haji Ismayilov, Azerbaijani theater and movie actor, People’s artist, and Deputy Chair of the Creative Committee of the Azerbaijani Theater Workers’ Guild; employees of Dunya School; faculty and administrative members of schools and preschools in the Binagadi District; and active young members of the New Azerbaijan Party.

Professor Hamlet Isaxanli made a speech at the event in which he noted that there is a large labor force of teachers in Azerbaijan today. He stated almost every family has a member who is a teacher or has some connection to teachers and students. He spoke about the significant role that teachers play in society, saying that teaching is one of the most honorable professions in the world and that plans are being made in Azerbaijan and in other parts of the world to improve the well-being of teachers.

Then Mirza Jafarzada, Deputy Chair of the Republic Committee of the Azerbaijan Educational Workers’ Free Trade Union, made a speech noting that measures are being taken to ensure good working conditions and better social security for teachers in our country today. He also said that everyone should honor and take care of teachers regardless of their workplace or position.

Huseyn Asgarov, Deputy Head of the Baku Board of Education, also made a speech stating that in today’s world in which everything depends on education and science, the strength of Azerbaijan rests on the strength of its teachers. He also emphasized that Azerbaijan has a wonderful and strong corps of teachers.

Then People’s Artist Haji Ismayilov made an unforgettable speech about teacher roles he has played, memories of his high school days, and his desire for increased knowledge among our society. At the end of his speech, he bowed to thank the teachers in attendance.

Aygun Aliyeva, Deputy Head of the Binagadi District Executive Power, spoke to congratulate the teachers on their holiday. She said that in recent years, significant achievements have been made in our country in the field of education as well as in other fields. She emphasized the importance of education and schools in the upbringing of the next generation, saying that the developments in this field are clear proof of the effectiveness of President Ilham Aliyev’s education policies.

The Khazar University Chamber Orchestra also performed classical music at the Teachers’ Day celebration.
