As part of the VIII Uzeyir Hajibeyli International Music Festival organized by the Azerbaijan Republic Ministry of Culture and Tourism and by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation on September 18-27, 2016, a concert was held on September 23 in the Uzeyir Hajibeyli House Museum.

Meritorious Artist Sardar Farajov (Director of the Uzeyir Hajibeyli House Museum) opened the event with a speech about the genius composer’s life and works. Then Professor Hamlet Isaxanli, founder of Khazar University and the Chairman of its Board of Directors and Trustees, spoke about films that have been made to show the composer’s multifaceted activities, emphasizing that these films have been shown in over 80 countries.

After the speeches, performances of pieces by world composers were made by Associate Professor Zulfiyya Sadigova, pianist and Head of the Department of Music and Fine Arts at Khazar University, and violinist Ferhad Ashumov, PhD student at Bratislava Music Academy.

As part of the same festival, Zulfiyya Sadigova and Farhad Ashumov also performed in a concert on September 26 in the Chamber and Organ Music Hall.
