On June 9, 2016, a meeting with the representatives of the Polytechnic Institute of Bragança was held on the Neftchiler campus of Khazar University.

The Polytechnic Institute of Bragança (IPB - Instituto Politécnico de Bragança) is a Portuguese University of Applied Sciences. At the meeting, the Institute was represented by Dr. Simão Pinho, a professor in chemical engineering and a permanent member of the State Associate Laboratory at the University of Porto (Portugal) and Dr. Paula Odete Fernandes from the Department of Economics and Management and School of Technology and Management of IPB.

Khazar University was represented by Dr. Hassan Niknafs, President  of Khazar University, Prof. Mahammad Nuriyev, Vice-rector for Academic Affairs, Raziya Isayeva, Development Director, Lyudmila Sotova, Head of Quality Assurance Center, and Turan Jafarova, Director of International Affairs Office.

The main goals of the meeting were to explore academic and scientific partnership opportunities, discuss cooperation within Erasmus Plus program and development of double degree programs.
