On May 12, 2016, Professor Ali Azghani of the University of Texas at Tyler visited Khazar University as a guest of the Biology Department. Professor Azghani is also the President of the Texas branch of American Microbiologists’ Society. He gave a lecture on “Pathogenesis and treatment of Pseudomonas infection: history, today and the future” for students, doctors, instructors and researchers. Other participants in the lecture included Dr. Hassan Niknafs, University President; PhD students of the Biology Department; Professor Fakhraddin Asgarov of Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences; Malahat Gahramanova, Senior Physician of Nargiz Clinic; Associate Professor Nigar Aghayeva of the Medical Microbiology and Immunology Department of the Medical University; and Fidan Baghirova, young researcher of the same department.
After the lecture, participants held a discussion on resistance to antibiotics in antibacterial treatment. At the end of the event, a discussion was held about possible research plans with the Biology Department of University of Texas at Tyler to eraticate antibacterial resistance in Azerbaijan.
