She then transferred to the vocal faculty of the Baku Music Academy to study as a soloist and has continued through to completion of a post-graduate course. Fidan has also studied at the Music Academy of Chigiana, Italy where she was won first prize in the final international competition. She is currently studying and extending her repertoire with the Italian mezzo-soprano Bruna Baglioni.

Since 1996 Fidan has been a leading opera soloist at the Azerbaijan State Opera and Ballet Theatre. Her repertoire on the theatre stage includes leading roles as:

• Carmen in Georges Bizet’s opera Carmen

• Amneris in Giuseppe Verdi’s opera Aida

• Azucena in Verdi’s opera Il Trovatore

Early roles also included Rosina (Il barbiere di Siviglia), Maddalena (Rigoletto) and Flora (La Traviata)

In 2000 Fidan represented the Azerbaijan Republic in the Turksoy Festival, returning once more in 2009. She went on to sing Carmen and other concert programmes at the Turkish State Opera and Ballet Theatre in Mersin, along with other performances at concert halls and theatres in Istanbul, Izmir, Ankara and Antalya (Aspendos). Fidan recorded her first album “Jealousy and Love” in 2003, singing national and international songs in seven different languages. More recently Fidan has performed concert programmes and introduced Azerbaijani music to many countries including Germany, Japan, Russia, Ukraine and Italy.

In 2011 Fidan has performed Carmen both in Turkey and in Baku, together with a solo concert at the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia in Rome, Italy. In May/June 2011 she performed Aida in Baku, together with a joint concert with French tenor Jean-Francis Monvoisin, followed closely by a workshop in Italy to study and perform in Puccini's opera Suor Angelica as part of the Summer Festival of Montefiore Conca near Rimini.

Fidan’s talent was recognised with the award in 2006 of the title Honoured Artist of Azerbaijan by the President of Azerbaijan
